Chapel Choir - Adult

The Choir is comprised of volunteers who sing at Sunday services and also present special choral programs throughout the year.  The Choir practices every Sunday at 7:45 a.m. and is open to anyone interested in participating in this special worship activity.

 

Chapel Choir - Children (His Kids)

The Choir is comprised of any Island child who is able to attend practice on Wednesdays from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. or Saturday from 11:00 a.m. - noon at the Chapel.  Rehearsals are held throughout the year unless noted on the weekly calendar (www.baldheadislandchapel.org).  The children will sing in Chapel on April 21, May 19, June 16, August 18, September 22 and October 20, 2013, as well as perform one musicale (“God Has Blessed the USA”) on August 18 at 4:00 p.m. and a Christmas Cantata (“Candlelight Christmas Garden”) on December 8 at 4:00 p.m.  For additional information, contact Carol Sauder at 910-454-9043 or email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Bible Study - Evening

The Evening Bible Study group (men and women) meets every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. for refreshments, with discussions beginning at 7:30 p.m. from September through May. There is always an Advent and a Lenten study.  The remainder of the year is devoted to studies that promote spiritual growth through topical studies as well as informative group studies.  Please check the Sunday bulletin or the Chapel Website calendar page (www.baldheadislandchapel.org) for the weekly location or call the Chapel Office (910-457-1183).

 

Women Exploring the Bible

This group of women meets the first and third Tuesday each month from September through May at 10:15 a.m. at the home of various Island residents.  Learning, fellowship and outreach summarize the goals of this group.  Participants enjoy exploring the wonderful stories of our Judeo-Christian heritage and how they are relevant in today’s world.  Check the Sunday bulletin or the Chapel Website calendar page (www.baldheadislandchapel.org) for the weekly location or call the Chapel Office (910-457-1183).

 

Men's Bible Study

The men of the Island meet the first and third Friday at the Bald Head Association’s downstairs conference room (behind Carrie/Diane’s offices) from 8:00-9:00 a.m.  This study, led by Rev. Dr. Garrett Albertson, is open to all men – residents, property owners and visitors.

 

Beach Hymn Sings

The Chapel’s Beach Hymn Sings are held during the summer months at Beach Access 23 (South Beach, Silversides Trail, at the intersection of Muscadine and South Bald Head Wynd).  Everyone is welcome to join Island residents, visitors and guests in these joyful outdoor events.  Check the Chapel Webpage calendar for specific dates and times.

 

Prayer and Meditation

The Chapel provides a time for prayer and meditation on the third Thursday of each month from noon to 1:00 p.m.  Visitors experience a time of reflection as Christian music is played on the piano.

 

Meals and Transportation

Meals are provided for persons returning from the hospital or who need assistance during a family illness or crisis.  Transportation to appointments is also provided when needed.  Please contact Carol Sauder (910-454-9043) or Susan Himes (910-457-5870) for more information or to schedule transportation. 

   

Communion for Shut-Ins

Communion is available for those unable to attend Chapel services.Please call the Chapel Office (910-457-1183) or Carol Sauder (910-454-9043).

 

Linger Longers

“Linger Longers” describes Sunday worshippers who meet in the Chapel Office after the weekly service (from mid-September to mid-May, except Easter Sunday).  All are invited to participate in this fellowship opportunity for relaxed conversations and for meeting old and new friends.  Coffee and breakfast snacks are provided.

 

On-Island Outreach

The Chapel provides a wide variety of activities to further the goals of its ministries.  Visitors to the Island or current and new residents who would like more information about our faith community or a visit by a Chapel representative may contact the Chapel Office (910-457-1183).

 

Off-Island Outreach

The Chapel is a member of the Southport-Oak Island Inter-Church Fellowship, a group of 18 area churches that connects the faith community.  The Chapel distributes monies to the SOIICF for the local Food Pantry Special Needs Fund.  Volunteers participate in the Christmas Angel Tree ministry in December for needy children in Brunswick County as well as a Christmas-in-July Tree to help children with back-to-school supplies.  In the fall, the Chapel also sponsors an annual CROP Walk (Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty) to provide food and other services for the needy in Southport and Brunswick County.  In addition, the Chapel provides volunteers and funds to assist the local Habitat for Humanity organization in the construction of houses in the Southport area.

As part of the Chapel's On-Island Outreach, Rev. Altar Guild

Members of the Altar Guild assist the weekly minister, prepare the altar, set up for Communion and coordinate with “Greet and Seat” volunteers.  They also prepare for private or in-service Baptisms, Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday and Easter services.  In addition, they decorate the Chapel and Chapel condo for Christmas.

Men's Bible Study

The Men's Bible Study led by Rev. Dr. Garrett Albertson meets two times a month at the Bald Head Association first floor conference room. Our next meeting is on April 18 from 8:00-9:00 a.m..  All men are welcome.
